self with *new* camera

This last years the new year has come marked by the little money I get from “year closing” tasks and the little (or big, depending of the p.o.v.) things I can do with it. This year, though, began really on Three Kings Eve, when my “flickr” friend Gini told me on a chat that she would send me her old camera, to help me enter the digital era.

Gini sent that camera, a Nikon Coolpix 800, to me on Jan. 14th and it arrived, happily, the 22nd. The CP 800 is a little digital point&shoot , 2Mp, 2x zoom (roughly equivalent to a 28-70mm), almost without floritures or manual controls and a battery gluton, to boot. I love it already, none the less; it might be termed my key to digital photography and in that respect is the equivalent to the 35mm. compacts I owned throughtout my apprenticeship, back in the 80s.

There are lots of things I could say about this little wonder andabout the soul inside the person who gave it to me but since an image is worth a thousand words, I’ll let the image speak for myself
